Phishing Alert
Internet fraudsters and scam artists are increasingly targeting online banking users by a method called PHISHING. Phishing is when you receive authentic-looking emails, appearing to come from the bank, but in reality it is sent by imposters to obtain personal and financial information. These deceptive emails direct you to click on links that re-direct you to fraudulent websites. These sites are designed to fool online banking customers into believing that they are actually visiting the bank's website. Once on the fake site, you are asked to enter personal and financial information that is later used to commit fraud.
How to protect yourself from such scams
- Please remember that Emirates NBD will never send such e-mails that ask for confidential information like account information, credit/debit card details, pins or internet banking details. If you receive an e-mail requesting for such details, please do not respond it and delete it.
- We will never send you an email asking you to verify your secure online banking details. Any email asking you to 'verify your account', 'confirm your sign in details', or using a similar form of words, is certainly a scam.
- Genuine emails from us never contain links for product information, application forms or to the online banking sign-in page. If you are in any doubt about whether an email is genuine, don't click on the link.
- If you get a suspicious email that claims to be from us please report it immediately to Emirates NBD Call Center - 600 54 0000
- If you notice any unusual steps for logging into your Internet Bank, kindly refrain from providing any further details and report it immediately to 600 54 0000.
- And finally, always have the latest online security/Anti-virus software installed on your computer. You should also keep it updated regularly to get protection from new viruses and rogue programs.
What to do if you suspect a phishing / scam email
- Delete the email from your computer
- If you have anti-virus software on your computer - run it to check for infections
- Do not click on any links included in the email
